Cimex Lectularius Linnaeus, more commonly known as Bed Bugs, can actually be found in a number of habitats including sofas, chairs and other furniture as well as mattresses and beds.

Bedbugs live off of the blood of humans and other warm blooded hosts. They feed by biting their hosts, piercing the skin and using two tubes, one to inject saliva and the other to withdraw the blood.

Bedbug bites have similar characteristics to flea bites, commonly leaving a raised red bump or flat welt which is normally accompanied by intense itching. Bites may not be immediately visible, and can take up to nine days to appear.

There has been no known cases of bedbug bites passing on any diseases or infections from host to host.

Professional treatment at the start is a lot more cost effective and will not lead to the disposal of furniture.
